Humble Beginnings
In the 1910s, Toichiro Nakashima, founder of our parent company Kewpie Corp, traveled to the United Kingdom and the United States as an overseas intern for what was at that time the Japanese Department of Agriculture and Commerce. He returned to Japan having developed a fascination with the nutritional value of mayonnaise based on its egg content.
In 1925, based on his desire to “help improve the physiques and health of the Japanese people”, the company launched Kewpie mayonnaise.
In 1983, Kewpie opened its first U.S. plant, Q&B Foods in Southern California. Ever since then, Q&B has been one of the finest Co-Manufacturers of Mayonnaise, Salad Dressings and Sauces around the world.
Looking Ahead
Q&B Foods was at the forefront of Organic Mayonnaise production and to this day remains the largest Co-Manufacturer of Organic Mayo in the country.
May 2025 will see the opening of our second manufacturing facility in Clarksville, Tennessee which will expand our manufacturing capabilities and help bring down shipping costs for our customers and their shipping locations east of the Mississippi River.
